The Mayr family is passionate about excellent cuisine. Since 1870 the restaurant Finsterwirt has offered guests an especially warm welcome and treated diners to first class creative and fresh delicacies.

For decades landlord Hermann Mayr personally guaranteed the quality of the cuisine. In 2016 he handed over his apron and the management of the kitchen to head chef and qualified dietary chef Hubert Ploner. After his training in South Tyrol Hubert Ploner worked in well-known starred restaurants, including with Heinz Winkler, at the Parkhotel Hilton and at the Königshof in Munich, at the Talvo and Kronenhof in St. Moritz, at the Castel in Tirolo and in further renowned restaurants.
The previous and the new head chef share the same philosophy: using only top quality ingredients. As far as possible, sourcing products from local farmers and organic farming with animal welfare at its heart.
Hubert Ploner and his team display imagination and creativity, the courage to develop new creations, and return to the use of seasonal natural products.
The style could be classed as “new regional cuisine”. Dishes that have been known and loved for many generations, often precisely because of their ingenious simplicity. Innovation and subtlety take Mediterranean products and create unique new compositions.
